Now on to my thoughts about this week's episode of FTWD ...

I adored this episode. I thought it was so fantastic and so well written. Everything that I hoped for was in it, well, save for one thing ...

I thought it really showed what would happen if the world started to break down. There would be some believers out there, like the teenager, but then others would be in denial. There would be a ton of misinformation out there and it would add to the chaos and ultimate disaster.

The only one that really didn't behave like a normal human being would was Madison. In order to protect your children, would you not tell them what was going on? It's not like her daughter, Alicia, is a toddler. She will be able to understand what has happened when her mother explains to her how the events unfolded. But to not tell her, puts her at risk. Maybe the writers are trying to say that she is in shock from killing the principal, but that is the part that I just don't understand. She has encountered the Walkers twice now, both times knowing that they must be killed. This time around, it should hit home more. She had to kill someone she knew intimately. It's not just her kid's friend. She looked into his eyes and had to do it herself. At that point, you tell your daughter.

You also don't wash the blood off when it is still not known how it is transmitted.

Get a new coat.

The husband, Travis, was still fantastic this week. He goes to get his son, but, now that I think about it, why doesn't he tell him what's going on to get him to come to him? Why let him be a petulant child at that point? Aren't there more important things going on? Also, when you ex-wife is arguing with you, tell her the truth. When she hangs up on the phone, you get to her house and you tell her what's going on. Why the secrecy? I get why the government might wait, but this is too much. Here's how simple it is "people are acting like they have rabies. They are eating people." Done. Then say, "now can we get our son here?"

The answer would be yes, a resounding, yes.

I do get why Travis, his son, and ex would hide out. They are thinking once the police get things calm, there will be a reprieve, and they will be able to flee.

The cool thing is yes, they thought they had more time. I like that. That's cool.

However, by the time they either have to flee this establishment, or there is a reprieve, more people will know what is going on and the panic and chaos that they could have beat will ensure. It's like concert traffic, they are too late at this point to beat the madness.

I also thought it was cool when the police officer was stockpiling water. That would for sure happen. Once you'd seen what he'd seen, and there is no larger government response? That would absolutely be plausible.

Now, at this point, I think the government would have (?) to tell people. Riots are breaking out because people do not know what is going on. I'm sure part of the problem is the government wants to try and keep mass chaos from happening. However, that is ALREADY happening, so time to inform. However, in defense, it seems like maybe the government in the show doesn't know what is going on. I'm not sure that is plausible either.

Plus, on the feasibility of the government, wouldn't they tell the police officers on the ground? I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't.

Well, I started this post stating that I really enjoyed this episode and then proceeded to tear it apart. I will stand by the statement that I did very much enjoy the episode. The only thing that was really glaring was the fact that the mother wouldn't tell the daughter what was going on.

I can't wait until next week!

Now, onto my blog about the new show - Fear The Walking Dead.

I really liked it! I thought that some people who wanted it to leap right into TWD arena are missing what could, and will, make this show so great, the character development, the slow burn, and the backstory.

It's kind of the opposite of TWD. We still barely know about the lives of some of the characters on TWD. In a way, that's telling for that show. It doesn't matter for them anymore who they were. The new reality is that they have to deal with.

Here, in FTWD, we get to start from scratch. We get to see the evolution. I think the concept is magnificent. We get to truly see how society would react to a breakdown. A massive breakdown.

One of my biggest pet-peeves in TWD is that the characters have not acted like people would in an apocalypse that far into development.

Here, on FTWD, we get a chance for the show to excel at showing that -- and I think they want to. Travis, the father figure, is a teacher. He was teaching his students about the laws of chaos and of nature. Therefore, that seems to be a focal point, a theme if you will, for the show. I would love to see this show more about the breakdown of relationships, the strengthening of some, the nature of who survives and who doesn't. That would be cooler than just making a second TWD. I think there are some fans out there who would want that, and that's cool, but this has the chance to be a true prequel. A true companion show, not just a spinoff.

So far Travis, the father, and Nick, the son of Madison, are by far the best. Nick is the standout. He is selling this role like nobody's business. Well done actor Frank Dillane, well done.

Kim Dickens has been a fave of mine for awhile, however, she's not doing it for me in the show, well, at least not yet.

She was fabulous in Lost, superb in Deadwood, and perfectly adequate in House of Cards. I'm just not seeing the emotion, the kindness, the intensity. She has glimmers, but it's not quite there yet. She doesn't seem to show tortured over her son very well. I get strong, but I have the sense she is trying to portray a reserved torture, it's just not coming across. She can ... she did it very well in Deadwood. I'm just gonna chalk it up to new character jitters.

The only caveat I have of the show so far is the emotion. The sudden fear. The slightly worried looks of what is going on in their community. I'm sorry, but at my work, if half of everyone was out for "the flu" that is all we would be talking about. That's not even with any zombie element (duh). I feel like the show is too far away from people talking about what is going on. Look at the recent Ebola scare in Africa. Everyone, even the government, was nonstop talking about it. A handful of people were being treated in America for Ebola and it was all over the news. In this show, a few states have had outbreaks and it's a little too ho-hum for me. It would be cooler if the show had a few more sideways glances. I few more, hey sweetie, wash your hands, there is a terrible flu going around. That would seem a bit more realistic to me.

Any-who, I'm super excited for next week to see if they improve upon some of the things I would like to see. However, unlike others, I would like to wait for more Walkers. If more Walkers come, then that means we've missed the opportunity to have something really special in this show.

My I Can't Wait for Fall Television Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

This blog is made possible thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14. Get your inkjets for less this August.

Ho-hum. I'm in a bit of a drought right now for television shows. All the ones I really enjoy watching are still on hiatus.

I'm also bumming because football season hasn't started yet.

I'm missing my television!

I get that I could binge watch a ton of random shows, but I really don't watch television just for television's sake.

No GoT, no The Walking Dead, no Better Call Saul ...

Hmm. I wonder when some of these shows are going to start up again. I know AMC likes to rotate. I think their new show, Fear the Walking Dead starts before TWD.

Let me look it up.

Sweet. August 23rd starts the prequel show. I'm actually excited for this. I heard that they, the show runners, are not going to "cross the streams" of the two shows. I think that is smart.

I also love the actors in the new show, so it will be exciting to see what they can do with it.

I guess I really only have to make it one more week before I can give my thoughts on the new show!

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

This True Detective season 2 finale is brought to you by my 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14. You can get 10% off your inkjets with this promotion. Don't pay full price for your inkjets, let a great company like 4inkjets take away the sting of replacement cartridges.

So, essentially I was hoping the 90-minute finale was going to make the whole show worthwhile.

Sadly, that was not the case.

If you have already read recaps, this isn't the place for that. It's just my thoughts.

Here are my thoughts.

I liked Vince's line about relationships. That's why Colin helps him in the end.

I liked that the finale showed that every character had a good and bad side. It tried to explore the statement from the previous episode ... what makes a bad man?

Vince getting killed by the Mexican gang? I kind of liked the theme it was going for there, not that it was executed well. Choices have consequences, ones you might not see. The big bad? It might be something else.

Wrongful deaths again this week. Vince ...give up your stupid jacket.

Colin, you know what would be better than seeing your son "one last time"? Calling him on the phone for the next 18 years. That would be better. How stupid to go see his son.

After being told by the police chief that he didn't know Colin was so competent, Colin essentially proved him right. Colin was incompetent enough to not at least try to ditch the car. To at least try harder to get the tracking device off. So dumb.

Hey, Colin, fyi, you just killed 2 out of 5 bad guys. Keep trying. Don't give yourself up.

Mexican gang, nice job finding Vince. How was that again? He burns all of his cars and is escaping. How does that happen.

Mexican gang, great job ambushing Vince. Didn't we all see Vince looking out his car mirrors wondering what was going on? He didn't see ANYONE get out of the cars so that he had time to get a gun and at least try to get out of there?

Stupid. The whole thing was just stupid.

Let's see what happens with season 3.

Great job Colin and Rachael. Not your faults. Vince? Kinda not your fault either. They gave by far the least trained dramatic actor the hardest and corniest lines to say. Sorry, dude.

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

This blog is made possible thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14. Save 10% on your inkjets today.

All I have to say about this week's episode is ... duh.

I've been saying this for weeks. It doesn't matter that absolute intricate details about who screwed over who. I had to read at least 4 other blogger's post to figure out what all the character's names were.

That should never happen in a story. When the guy met Taylor in the LA subway tunnels, I was like who? Who is that again? Is he Colin's boss, Rachael's boss, Taylor's boss? I honestly couldn't remember. I also was guessing he was a boss, I couldn't quite remember that either.

Also, honestly, really? You KNEW you were going into a trap, but you'd rather die than have people find out your gay? Jeez.

AND, you just totally our maneuvered your fellow black-ops soldier buddies, only to stupidly take one glance when you leave the subway and be like, oh, it's cool ...

No, no it wasn't. That was bad writing top to bottom. Someone with that type of skills does not go out like that. That other dude was like the tunnels go on for miles ... I know! Leave through a different route. FFS.

Rachael and Colin stare at each other for, well, forever, and then start to make out.

I don't care.

Vince baby finally had a good week. I KNEW he could be a badass. I've officially decided it's not Vince's fault his acting is so bad. Someone is directing him that way. Someone has been giving him the worst dialogue. When they finally let vince break bad, he does, and it's excellent.

However, from a storyline point of view ... again ... who cares? Vince knew Blake was against him. Vince knew it probably had to do with the shady Russian dude. The only tell here was that they not only took his Casper deal, but his fall back on the casinos as well. The only, ONLY cool thing at this point would be a better why than just greed.

Honestly, we've known this all along, throwing in that the Russian decided to take the casinos too does not impress me.

The stupidest, absolute worst line this week was from hippie papa bear to Rachael -- you are the most innocent person I know.

F'ing stop already. That was the worst, worst, worst line I have ever heard.

Another complaint. How does Colin know "they" used his gun to kill the lady? Why would you make that leap when these people have been clueless the entire time?

The show opened with someone driving Casper's body to a park bench so the police could find him. Let's finally solve who did that -- the only reason to watch this terrible, terrible show.

Recap that we know: some police dudes broke into a pawn shop and stole those blue diamonds. I'm pretty sure they gave them to their boss, and somehow the mayor. I'm totally and complete unclear as to how Casper is involved in that. We know the two kids lived and they are probably seeking revenge. We somehow miraculously find the daughter working as Casper's assistant. I'm assuming the kids killed Casper and set him out for the cops to find so that they would know that they were, what? Coming for them? I don't know.

Also, where are the diamonds? Did the kids steal them back? Who knows?

90 minutes next week to make this season worth my time.

Now, onto my thoughts about the latest episode of True Detective.

All I can say is that there are only two episodes left. Thank goodness.

I really just want them to wrap this up already.

The thing is, perhaps we don't have a name specifically, but there is no mystery, and anything else that they throw at us will just be contrived magic shit to pretend that there is more to the story than corporate greed and mobsters trying to get in on the action.

That's the thing. We don't care enough about the people involved to care about the story as a whole.

There's too many subplots with not enough meat on any of them to care.

Rachael goes to a party tonight for what purpose? The boys follow her for what purpose? To see what goes on at these parties ... sure. But then they find contracts with signatures all over them? Of course there are signatures, they are contracts. Also, everyone involved knows it is over the land for the rail. Everyone knows there was a conspiracy to cause the land to be toxic so that the rich could buy them for cheap and that the people who pay are the lower socioeconomic people. That no one lives there and that rich people are chewing up the land and spitting it out.

There is no mystery.

The show could be good if it showed how it impacted people's lives, but, again, not enough character development.

This is the Seinfeld of mysteries. The show is about nothing. It is making a mountain story out of a molehill story.

Then the big knife thing is that Rachael stabs someone? In that drab fashion? Ugh. Wasted. So wasted.

Again, the only, only bright spot is Colin, story wise and acting. Him giving up his son so that his son will never know that he is the product of rape is the only person acting unselfishly. Unlike other bloggers, I don't think it was just to retain his right to the name father. He did a fatherly thing by giving up his son to protect his son. Even the saint of a mother would rather tell her son that he is the product of rape, cause him to have to live with that, so that she can win a custody battle. Who is the disgusting parent now?

Then there is Vince. Ugh. Someone shoot him out of his misery. Him not believing someone killed the girl was too much. Just stop already. Vince's acting at the table and throughout this episode was some of the worst. However, like all episodes of True Detective this season, it has moments of, dare I say, good ... I can't even finish that sentence. Is it like when you line up 10 guys and you pick the hottest one out of them, but if you put that same guy with a bunch of actual hot guys no one would pick him? I think so. Was the scene with Vince and the boy really that good or just the best scene we've seen with him in awhile so we are just calling it good? I think the latter. I did like it though. Anyone who is older knows that what he speaks is the truth. We can all look back on our lives and pick out the moments that changed our lives forever. The longer you live, the more of them you have. Some of us have more profound ones than others.

I agree with other bloggers, I'm not hate watching right now, but I am mystified watching. I'm only watching, not because I'm interested in the show, but more so to see what in God's name did they see this series culminating toward? What did the writers think was a big mystery? Are they going to just magically contrive some much bigger plot? Are they going to resolve what happened to soldier boy int he field to get the burns? His sexuality? Does Colin, or Rachael for that matter, get any peace?

I wait to see ...

Until next week.

Now, onto my recap of True Detective Episode 5 Other Lives.

So, we catch up with the story 3 months later. All the detectives or whatever their positions are have been reassigned or they have quit.

Colin has quit, but he is working for Vince. He quit because he realizes what went down with the shootout was a colossal cover up, shakedown and set up.

He'd finally had enough.

I read something somewhere about the reason why he shaved his moustache. The reason is he is removing his mask. I don't know about that.

Rachael is doing evidence and TK is a detective now, he actually got a promotion, but all are miserable.

Somehow, they have all been asked to now secretly try and figure out why there are blue diamonds. I'm not sure what this lady wants now or why she got involved. I think somehow she too got screwed on the shootout deal, but this was totally unclear. I think they mentioned about the new governor or something or some kind of politician, but, again, totally unclear.

If I had to sum up this season I would say the keyword would be unclear. It's unclear why I should care, it's unclear if there really is more to this plot that requires 8 episodes or if it goes beyond a corrupt politician who got killed due to either his kinky sex life, his train deals, or both. Can't we just say both and end it all there? Does it really drive the plot anywhere more that it will be involved with Rachael's dad? I don't care. Do I care if the plastic surgeon is more involved than he says he is? No. This show is running on the false assumption that we care about any of these people. That's it's downfall. It's so proud of itself that it forgot to make us care. I can tell you, the only reason people are watching anymore is to be (hopefully) proven wrong this this is absolutely a waste of a series.

Anyway, I digress.

The only thing that was remotely interesting was that Colin finally figured out that he has been duped this whole time by Vince. Duh. Every viewer knew that from episode one. Colin did well with the acting here and proved once again he is the only bright light in this dreadful series. I give Rachael a pass here because she really isn't given any good material. Her now smoking real cigarettes is just actually an insult to the viewer. It's so in your face it's annoying.

The acting by Colin was good because it portrayed the emotion that would come with realizing that your whole life is a lie. He already significantly struggled over the fact that he killed a man because he raped his wife. That killing of a man changed his life to the point he lost his wife, his child, his honor -- everything. The fact that he thought he was being "a man" by avenging his wife, that ultimately led to the removal of all that he held dear ... all for a lie? To be duped? Ugh. That would be soul crushing. At least before he could hold onto the fact hat he "manned up" and did right by his wife, all the terribleness that came with it, but that was never the case.

Again, the theme of what it means to be a man, to be a woman.

Onto TK. All I have to say is it's your own damn fault. Who would hide money in their prostitute mother's trailer? That made zero, ZERO sense. Bad, bad, bad writing.

Well, 3 episodes left. I wonder how much more can they pretend to make out of this really boring plot. So stupid.

I'm going to go on record though that next season will be good. HBO will not stand for this. It will be hard to get good actors after this though. Also, I'm fine with them changing up the type of season from the occult, to a murder mystery. That's fine. Just make me care about the characters and care about the plot. Oh, and have a plot that couldn't have been wrapped up in two episodes.

Reluctantly, I will watch next week, but looking forward to writing my thoughts for you all.

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

Here are my thoughts on True Detective episode titled Down Will Come.

Overall, the story makes no sense. We all know it. We have been given no new information. There are too many threads in the police force to follow and too many sections of it to truly understand what is going on.

I don't need to recap my thoughts on this, nor does anyone else. It's a waste of time. We all know it.

We all also know that everyone is working against everyone else and no one can be trusted to do the right thing. We also know that the writers have told us no new information since episode one. Save for a few tidbits about spoiled land, a #2 to Vince that is clearly working against him, and that there is a connection between Rachael's father, the good doctor, and dead guy.

This is not news worthy, nor is it necessary to be this far into the season without any new story.

We also know that the best actors are in order:

Colin
Rachael
Taylor
Vince

There is no disputing these facts.

Everyone needs to stop recapping that.

I, for one, liked the shoot 'em up scene. I liked watching Rachael unravel.

It was annoying that we then had to pan to everyone else unraveling.

Too much.

Was all the money spent of the set up for the shoot 'em up that we still couldn't get better CGI of when someone is driving the car? The CGI is so distracting.

That's all I really have to say. I want to say they need to fix this show really quick, but sadly, you know the whole thing has already wrapped.

Man, it has glimmers, but even those glimmers don't shine bright.

I feel like someone needs to tell the show runners that the most important thing is always characters, then story, and then everything else.

True Detectives Season 2 didn't seem to get that memo.

One example of this. I didn't watch a great deal of Buffy, but one thing for sure is that the special effects weren't out of this world. The story could be fluffy at times. However, what made the show so good was the characters, how they interacted, and their story arcs.

These writers could learn a thing or two about writing from a teen television show from the 90's

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

This blog is made possible thanks to the good people at 4inkjets.

They provide inkjets with great service, great prices, and a great 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14 to get 10% off inkjets.

Now my thoughts on True Detective.

So Colin is not dead. While I am so happy that he is still in the show, it was a bit of poor writing and clearly just a headline grabber. Viewers do not like to feel abused. I feel a little taken advantage of.

However, as he and Rachael (I've decided to just call them by their acting names this blog) are clearly the best in the show, it would have been devastating to lose him.

I thought the scene between those two when they were chasing the masked man were great. It showed them bonding and perhaps beginning to trust each other. I thought that was enticing. I also liked it when Rachael hovered at the door to hear what was going on, nice.

I thought Colin totally sold the ...great, I pissed myself part. Plus, the writing for Rachael there was great. Not even for one second, even after a fellow law enforcer got shot, can she have any sense of graciousness. She has to call him out on peeing his pants. That was an excellent bit of character development -- showing just how hard she is to the core. No grace.

We had a bit more of the Taylor Kitsch I hate the fact I'm gay thing.

Alright.

As for Vince, he seemed so on the verge of getting into a legitimate business and now that is all up int air. It is forcing him to revert to his old ways of being a thug, a street fighter, and a hustler. Things he wanted to elevate himself above.

I wasn't buying the scene where he beats the shit out of that one guy. He doesn't give the sense of pent up anger that Rachael and Colin do. The only good part of that duo is whomever plays Vince's wife. She's great.

Every time Vince is on the screen, I know if is Vince Vaughn. I can not suspend belief. I'm finally utterly committed to the fact he was a terrible casting choice.

Colin's original partner, the guy who worked on Deadwood -- he would have been a better choice as a king pin. They have him so absolutely under utilized in this series that you would never know that he would excel as a kingpin.

So, overall, not a terrible episode, but I still feel like I'm watching amateur hour.

Oh, on a side note, I'm not getting into the ridiculous opening sequence or how stupid it all is that now we are including the movie making business. Yuck. Also, was I the only one who completely missed the fact Vince's companion also had his eyes worked out with acid?

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

Poor Vince Vaughn
I am able to write this blog thanks to the good people at 4inkjets. Their 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14 lets me write blogs that I enjoy, especially blogs about the television shows that I like. Shows, that just got much better than the first episode -- like True Detective!

To learn more about 4inkjets, please go to http://www.4inkjets-coupon-codes.weebly.com.

True Detective Season 2 was off to a bad start. Most of this episode was a shit-show too.

Here are the problems I had with episode 2.

I could't hear a damn thing. Seriously, do I have bad speakers? What is the sound production budget on this show? I feel like I was straining to hear everything. Also, what the hell is going on? Is everyone mumbling? Talking to fast? I spend most of the time trying to pause and recreate the sentence in my head. That's bad writing 101. The reader/viewer should not spend their time trying to figure stuff out, they should be lost in the story. I'm not saying we shouldn't be challenged by a plot thread but I should hear the thread and vaguely know what's going on.

I should not have to read other people's recaps to understand what's going on. I also feel like the show paid some writers to write about the show so that the information could be disseminated.

Anyway, poor Vince Vaughn again this week.

I feel like someone is mocking him.

He is given the worst dialogue, the most pretentious dialogue, and the most terrible direction. I know you wanted out of the comedy hole you were shoveled into, but I'm sorry this was your way out.

That opening sequence with him unable to sleep was just too much. That Rorschach test was just a head shaker.

I also get that we are talking about masculinity this season, I agree with other writers out there. What does it mean to Frank to have his father, a man, lock him in the basement and be almost eaten by rats? What kind of man does that make Frank? What kind of man does it take to be a mobster and what does that look like? Frank is no scarface Al Pacino. He is weak, and looking to be legit in his life, and he doesn't want to be forced to be a mobster anymore.

What does it mean to Paul? He has to take Viagra to get an erection with his girlfriend and it is now called into question whether or not he needs to take Viagra to have an erection with a girl at all? He strives very hard to let it be done that he is not the one breaking up with his girlfriend. What is he trying to prove and to whom? Is he trying to prove that he did not sabotage a relationship with a woman? What is his worldview on masculinity? Is he tortured from the burns caused by what? Is that his issue? Father induced? Incest induced from his prostitute mother? I'm sure we will be filtered into this narrative by the writers choosing.

As for Ani, that is also a lesson in the expectations of gender identity and what it means. Also, on a side note, I feel like we are also grappling with what people find acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Ani finds her father and sister to be unacceptable, yet she shirks a potential important lead to continue to watch kinky porn. This is also at the root of why this politician was murdered. Her gender identity of what is female is driven home with her conversation about knives. She feels ultimately the lesser powerful of the sexes, yet, she is more than willing, and angrily so, to make up for that with her use and possession of knives. This is sure, SURE to come into play, not only in the future of this character, but what happened to her in the past to secure this mindset.

And finally, to our lost soul Velcoro, he certainly met with an untimely death or a horrific hospital stay. However, if the first season is any indication when Matthew McConaughey managed to live, so will Velcoro. Plus, how would they know where he was? Does the killer/shooter call it in? I think not.

This scene may have saved the show. I can't be the only one who was going to give up on the show. I certainly was going to give up when he holstered his weapon. When one sees a big pool of blood on the floor, I know my first inclination is to holster my weapon because ... I can't even finish that sentence it is all so ridiculous.

I liked Colin Farrell in the show, I hope he's not dead.

I liked the bird mask that was missing, and I liked the connection with the bird in the first episode that was sitting in the front passenger seat. Clearly a thread.

On a side note, I also liked the whole autopsy scene, I thought that was pretty cool.

Until next week.

My True Detective Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

Yay! True Detective is back! Unlike AMC, HBO knows how to keep their viewers interested! Finish off GoT and move onto True Detective ... perfect!

I watched True Detective this morning. I always stay on a media blackout so that I don't hear any scoop.

I'm saying this before I read other people's review.

Meh.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't even like the opening sequence and song.

From a casting standpoint, let's talk about the good, well, great ... Rachael McAdams. She is excelling in this role. She is definitely getting across pent up rage, as if she could break at any moment. I love the sweaty, disheveled look they give her. She seems to just seep intensity. Well cast.

Colin Farrell I think is well cast as well. He also seems to have gotten the "you are going to appear sweaty in this series" look. That's fine. It's a theme. He does well with the broken soul bit.

Now to the whatever. Taylor Kitsch, you're okay. That's just how little I'm going to write about you.

The bad. I might be the only one, but I didn't necessarily think that Vince Vaughn had to be a bad casting choice. He has the ability to give good shady character looks. However, I honestly feel like it's the directing. Why do they have him sounding so sweet voiced? It's just odd. Why do they have him acting like a lost puppy? A person who is a mobster doesn't get to his level without being a badass. Why is he looking so pathetic and clueless? Bad writing? Bad directing? I'd love to know the answer.

On a side note, I'm really excited to see the acting of W. Earl Brown. He was in Deadwood and in an episode of Justified. I think he is really, really good. I do hope that they utilize him well.

As for the plot, who knows what in the heck is going on? All we know is, and it's true, California is building a high speed rail, the bond or whatever finally passed. Frank, aka Vince Vaughn, is trying to arrange some kind of deal? But the deal is supposed to be done?  Some are Russians? The mayor or someone is in on it? The cops are in on it? Huh? Plus, didn't Frank say they all have the holding companies for the contracts to the land the rail is going to build on or are they the ones actually building the train? I don't know. Really, really poor writing. How can one care about the plot and it moving forward if the writers do such a bad job with the small amount of plot that they opened up to?

Then some dude, some politician maybe, is in on it, but he gets killed?

Huh?

Why not just show a bit of that?

I get Colin Farrell. He was a sherif, and now is a detective, and he owes Frank because Ray's wife got raped and the police couldn't pin it on someone so Ray went to Frank who had the identity. You know, mob bosses have intel on the streets. Fine. A child was born from the rape, fine. But what about the mom? Where is she? I get that Ray could never get past it. I get that's why he does drugs and alcohol. I get that the whole affair is why Ray is under Frank's thumb. I get it started small and probably got larger and larger, the things Ray did for Frank. I'm sure Ray killed the rapist of his wife. Also, probably going to come out that Frank hired the dude to do that to Ray's wife to get him under his thumb.

Rachael McAdams character name is Ani. FYI, I only know that from IMDB. That's bad writing people, that one of the three main characters I didn't get the name -- knowing I would write about the episode later.

Any-who, she's a badass cop who has anger issues. Her daddy is some type of hippie yoga dude. Her sister is into porn and just generally a bad seed. Ani's mom killed herself by walking into the water all Virginia Woolf style. Ugh. Whatever.

I'm done with this review, recap, or thoughts blog. Truly my thoughts are that this was a terrible showing. It had none of the nuance that the first season had. I actually like the actors better in this season so I'm not sure what's going to happen there. Honestly? I feel like it is the writing. The scene set ups are terrible too. I think they are going for choppy, to convey the chaos in it all, but it just doesn't make for good viewing. I just watched Top of The Lake, now that was well shot. I think someone who worked on cinematography for Top of the Lake also did TD (True Detective) season 1, however, it would be interesting to see if that woman (I think it was a woman) did season 2 as well.

Anyway, it is always fun to try and figure out why a show hits the sophomore slump. Is it the network removing money like they did with The Walking Dead? Is it change in directors, as is the case for TD (True Detective)?

I don't know.

I'll watch next week. I hope it gets better.

My Game of Thrones Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

This blog is courtesy of 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14. 4inkjets makes everything so easy, that I have more time to do the things that I love - blog about television shows, namely Game of Thrones.

Oh my God! Wow! That was craziness!

Darn it all that was the season finale episode!

First off, Dany. Why you busting your dragon's balls? Calm down. The dude got you out of a serious situation. Stop being petulant and whining at him. Give him a chance to rest and literally lick his wounds.

Serves you right for getting surrounded by the Dothraki.

Then there is Sad Sansa and Sad Reek. Good job finally stepping up to the plate Reek. I will enjoy calling you Theon again.

Oh, and to anyone who thinks that they didn't survive that fall, don't be stupid. Of course they survived.

Arya? Dude. Give up on being a no face. You want revenge. Stop lying to yourself.

Poor Jon Snow.  I'm finding it a little hard to believe that once the Wildlings came back and told the other people from The Watch what happened to their people at the hands of the White Walkers that everyone would be more focused on the White Walkers than getting revenge on the Wildlings. How f'ing short-sighted. I hope all those that stabbed Snow die at the hands of the White Walkers and then Jon Snow cuts their heads off with his Valayrian Steel. I'm also pretty sure that the Red Witch brings Snow back to life or some bullshit. It's getting tot he point where magic is going to start to be used. That's just the way these things work out once they get so fantastical.

Back to the Red Witch. Wow, way to cut and run. Poor Stannis. He sees his wife hanging, learns half his forces deserted, and then the Red Witch left him? I'm sure he knew he would be walking into certain death at that point. He must've wanted to get some anger out at how stupid he was. How stupid to burn your own child. Family first.

I did like the fact that Brienne was the one who killed Stannis. She got what she has wanted for a really long time and Stannis died with a certain level of dignity.

I liked the moment between Tyrion and Varys. They are so good together. Maybe the best onscreen couple?

As for poor Jaime. He finally gets to be the father he was never allowed to be. No one every looks at Jaime and thinks he deserves such love. Now, basically a sweet saint of a girl, looks at him with love in her eyes and says she is happy he is her father.

Ugh. Poor Jamie. No one appreciated what he did for the Kingdom, and he could never be appreciated as a father -- both sad, sad endings to his life story.

This si also not going to bode well for his relationship with Cersei. She already thinks he is useless, and now he fails her on this? Oh, it's going to be bad.

Plus, the timing. Cersei just went through the worst thing in her life and for Jaime to then lay at her feet the death of her daughter -- the one thing she truly cares about - her kids? Oh, it's going to go so badly for him.

As for the walk of shame, my God. What a great scene. First of all, it was tastefully done. Second of all, my lord was her body amazing. Well done Lena, well done.

Also, besides her beauty, well, well done on the acting Lena. You conveyed every emotion without uttering one word. That is so hard to do. You conveyed the humiliation, the desperation of your situation, the fight in Cersei, the shame -- all of it. You felt how strong of a woman Cersei was knowing how badly she just wanted her misery to end, but being strong enough to make into the safety of her own walls. The vulnerability she displayed once in her own walls, the sobbing. It was tremendous. If you don't get the Emmy, there is no justice in the world.

Can't wait until next season!

My Game of Thrones Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

I'm fairly certain he is the traitor
This blog is made possible thanks to the good people at 4inkjets. 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14 can get you your inkjets for 10% off. Every little bit counts.

And now onto GoT.

I thought this episode was okay. I really want someone to tell me why this season isn't as good as the others. I can't quite put my finger on it.

I loved the fact that Jon Snow was let through the wall. It was pretty questionable that that would happen. However, after what the Wildlings have been through and Jon Snow and his convoy, are we really going to argue the logic behind Jon Snow bringing in the Wildlings? I think not. So kinda stupid.

As for Shireen, that was awful. However, again, the writing for some reason didn't make it remarkably sad? The red wedding seemed so much more heart-wrenching. I'd love someone to dissect why that was. Was it because we didn't see it coming? Was the writing better? The acting better? The cinematography?

Davos was clearly sent away because Stannis knew he would try and stop the execution. It was an execution. Sacrifice seems, I don't know, too something. It was murder. Plus, when Lady Stark watched Robb get killed we felt her pain. I didn't feel anything for the mother of Shireen. She's a bitch and doesn't deserve to pretend like she cared for her daughter. Stannis can now get gutted alive by a White Walker for all I care. If he wins the throne, is it even worth it? You killed your own daughter!

The end with Dany was interesting. Does the big dragon know she chained up the other 2? Would Drogon be so quick to save his mother if he knew his siblings were chained to a wall?

I'm not sure what I make of all of it. I'm fairly certain the dude Dany was gonna marry set up that coup. Either him or the guy she us sleeping with.

Also, kudos to Tyrion for saving the girl -- I liked it!

Also, my favorite part of the dragon was when it walked toward Dany. Super muscular and all badass. I loved it.

Next week is the finale. Although this season has been iffy, I am still excited for the finale. I think it's telling that it's weird the season is already over. I sort of feel like nothing has happened?

My Game of Thrones Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

I love to blog about Game of Thrones, it's one of my favorite television shows.

This week's episode is titled Hardhome.

This was a very good episode.

I won't spend any time on the Arya storyline - who cares?

I know everyone is excited about seeing the Queen of Dragons and Tyrion together, but am I the only one who really only cares that we get to see Tyrion?

I loved to watch Tyrion actually get to have some great dialogue. He has been traipsing around the seven kingdoms and has barely had in good quips. I loved the scene where he carefully defended Jorah and sentenced him out of Meereen. Very good advising already! He can't go completely against Jorah, because the man can be helpful. He can't have him there advising Dany, because that is his new job,and he can't kill him either. Smart! And he won over the Queen of Dragons! Nice!

Sad Sansa learned something we all knew, like, 400 episodes ago.

I would be sad if this is the way Cersei goes out. She's too fun. Plus, I want to see her make good on her promise to kill that wicked witch.

Now, the best part - the White Walkers.

First, my complaint.

Really? I mean, honestly? We have been hearing about Winter coming for decades now. So long that in fact it's super annoying. I could just imagine a teenager behind the wall being like "dad, gosh, I KNOW! Winter is coming, jeez. Stop saying it already!"

I would have liked to have seen Jon Snow say, "Wow, what a cowinky-dink? We come to the Wildlings and that's the exact second Winter decided to show up? Weird!"

It was mildly annoying and a little, I don't know, sudden, in a weird kind of way. It's just Jon Snow just went over to get the Wildlings and Winter comes up over the hill. I don't know ...

However ....

I loved it! Finally! All this talk about White Walkers and Winter -- it has been worth it! So super great! Also, to back track, what a great scene with Jon Snow and the elder table or whatever. That was cool. So was Wildling guy killing bones guy -- that was dope. Plus, I loved watching all those Wildlings getting on the boats and knowing something shitty was gonna happen to the ones left behind (just not so soon).

Also, was anyone else impressed with the Walkers gong over the wall? I was. I also thought it was really cool when they reanimated from the fall. Badass.

I thought he was gonna freeze the water here
It does truly reinforce what the Night's Watch have been saying all along. The game of thrones isn't going to matter when those White Walkers come.

Tyrion said there are no Valyrians left to follow Dany. However, it seems the Valyrians have been prepared for Winter for a long time.

Dragons (Valyrian) are going to melt the shit out of the WW.

Valyrian steel kills WW.

Dragon glass (comes from Valyria).

Seems to me Dany will be the answer.

Can't wait, only two more episodes left this season! Thankfully, it's finally gotten good!

(Ps, really liked that Wildling lady. Why did she have to die? Plus, really? She wouldn't try and live for her own children? She would rather die at the hands of WW? Lame.)

My Game of Thrones Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

4inkjets is a great company. They provide excellent customer service, excellent products, and are helping to save the environment. Use 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14 to save money on your next inkjet order. Thanks to them, I can write this blog about one of my favorite television show Game of Thrones.

The episode is entitled The Gift.

I liked this episode, save for the fact that if we are getting ahead of the books, that the writers are going to keep stealing from movies like The Gladiator. I mean, come on. Just stop it already. That was f'ing lazy.

I haven't read the books, so I don't really care who or what does the writing, just don't be lazy.

Who didn't see it coming that Reek was going to betray Sansa. I mean, that also was way too expected. It made it sting a little bit less, but it was definitely foretold.

I personally thought we would see Ramsay just knock down the tower. I thought that would be really cool. Plus, that's most definitely a sign.

On a side note, what kid of sign does Brienne need besides a candle? I can't wait to see what finally forces her into this sadistic camp in order to rescue Sansa.

I would like to back track for a second here. How stupid was Sansa for trusting Reek? The guy quivers constantly. I know. How about ask around? So, hey, how did Reek get here? It's like Sansa learned nothing from her time in King's Landing with Joffrey.  Also Reek insists his name is not Theon, who would trust him at this point? Sad Sansa.

I'm really excited to see where the Tyrion thing goes with the Queen of Dragons. That should be really interesting. I have no guesses. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride.

Really, now we are going to kill the poor Stannis daughter? That seems like this poor young girl has gone through too much for that. Her mother obviously hates her. The witch is pulling a story right out of the bible, which, again, seems like lazy storytelling. I'm not sure I like where that is going.

As for Jon Snow, I get that all sides mistrust each other, the Wildlings and the Knights of the Watch, but, haven't we all seen White Walkers by now? I hope they don't spend too much time on the ridiculous nature of not trusting Jon Snow.

I do think it could be cool, I just want them to tread lightly on the overkill.

As for Cersei, that was so super awesome. I would never, ever let myself be cornered by those freaks. Even her young son was smarter than to individually go up against them. I do hope she murders them all. I was getting those vibes from the leader when Queen Olenna was talking to him. I was like "he's looking at you like he wants to throw you in jail, too"!

Yet, it was Cersei he nabbed.

I can't wait for next week!

Now for my thoughts on this week's GoT.

Poor Sad Sansa, we all saw that coming -- things weren't going to go well for her. I know we all kinda hoped, by some small miracle, that Ramsay wouldn't be horrifying to her, but ... life in the 7 Kingdoms is not a nice one. The show always surprises me though, having Theon watch -- hard core.

The question now is, will Theon stick up for Sansa or is he so beat down he will turn on her given the chance? He turned on his own sister, but he barely knew her. Plus, he didn't watch her get raped. Often times, in the real world, people who are abused come forward when someone else falls prey. Perhaps that's the case here.

Cersei, don't fuck with Cersei, that's what this really comes down to. However, one can't help but think the Queen Olenna has been around, and successful, for a long while. I would not count her out quite yet. I have to admit, good play by Cersei to gain even more leverage. She took down Queen Margaery - either by sentencing her to death or by a bargaining chip, it really doesn't matter. Point, Cersei. Poor King T though, he looked like someone took his new puppy.

Even more impressive is Littlefinger. That dude is as snaky as they come. I'm not sure what his play is, but either way, he wins. The question is, what would he like to see happen -- I don't think he cares. He's in a position now where all three scenarios work, except if Stannis wins. That's the only one that can't happen for Littlefinger.

As for Tyrion, I love him. We are back with his strong suits in this episode -- him talking his way out of something. I loved his line about his, well, you know. Classic Tyrion!

I for one am excited to see Jorah in the fighting pits!

We have seen that people can survive the Greyscale, so I really don't know what will happen with Jorah.

I look forward to finding out.

This blog is made possible thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14. 4inkjets provides great customer service, a ton of brands for you to pick from, and an easy website to navigate through. They make my life so much easier so I can blog about things that I love, like Game of Thrones.

This week's episode is called Kill The Boy.

This is in reference to Jon Snow. He wants to bring the Wildlings into the North, past the wall. His thoughts are excellent. Winter is coming and they will need all the help that they can get. Also, I hadn't really thought of this, but most of the Wildlings might die and be turned into White Walkers if left north of the wall. Very, very smart thinking Jon Snow. I was very impressed with this forward thinking.

His problem is a tricky one. He knows what is best for all involved, but like all things in life, people have a hard time letting go of their prejudices even if it is for the greater good. Apparently, the 7 Kingdoms are not much different than the world in which we live in.

Daenerys is also having a time of it. I love how both these characters are dealing with the struggles of power simultaneously and with pretty much the same obstacles.  Daenerys is having trouble leading, because the people don't want it, even though it was in their best interest. Now, Daenerys has lost one of her own, and another is very wounded. Ideally, she would want everyone to love her since she set them free. That didn't happen. Now, does she seek full vengeance? That's not really an option either. So she uses intimidation -- her dragons. I'd really like to see these dragons get house trained. That would be much cooler than keeping them in chains. Maybe she can talk to her family in the North and see what they did to keep their dragons under control.

We did get some brief glimpses of Sad Sansa, but it was mostly in relation to Reek and Ramsay. I swear, they did some great casting with the actor who plays Ramsay. That dude conveys evil, sadistic evil. Kudos dude. He holds Reek over the head of Sansa. As much as we want to feel bad for Reek, he kinda, sorta brought this all on himself. He, too, thought power would be easy to hold onto, and it cost him dearly. While Reek didn't kill the two youngest Stark boys, he did betray Robb, which ultimately led to his death. Reek is no innocent here. However, well done Reek, don't blurt out that the boys are still alive, that is your only card for getting out of this situation.

Two out of the three families that brought death to Sansa's family are in that dining room with her -- and I thought my family dinners were uncomfortable!

Lastly, we have my favorite, Tyrion. He is going through the waters of Valyrian. Apparently, this was a great society that has fallen to ruins, although, I'm not sure why. Maybe other people know why, those who read the books, but this seems only vaguely eluded to. However, of more important note, the Stone Men live here. They are kinda like Lepers. You can't touch them our you get some greyscale. The Stone Men of course attack the boat and Tyrion is pulled under water. However, he does not get the greyscale. Huh? This is much like the convoluted mess that is in The Walking Dead as to becoming a Walker either by death or being bitten. I still don't understand the "science" behind that one. Id you already have Walker disease, does biting speed up the process? What if it's not a death bite? Doesn't make sense, nor does this. Tyrion got touched by a Stone Man under the water on his boot. So the boot protected him or was it the water?

I'd burn those clothes if I were Tyrion.

Can't wait until next week!

In this week's episode my favorite stuff was Sad Sansa and Jon Snow. Everyone else just seemed to be moving their pawns forward for future show spotlights.

Sad Sansa is now at Winterfell in the crypt reminiscing about lost loved ones and wondering what will happen to her. Here we learn that Littlefinger is off to see Cersei. However, before he goes, he has some advice for Sansa, get Ramsay under your control. He alludes to her womanly charms, much like how Margaery has controlled all of her kings. I'm not sure here if Littlefinger has misjudged how terrible Ramsay is and if he really thought out this plan. He hopes that Sansa will become the Queen of Winterfell, once Stannis puts down the Boltons. It will be interesting to see how this develops. I can't tell if Littlefinger really does like Sansa or not. I don't think so. He's always been out for himself. Plus, she's just so sad.

As for Jon Snow, I loved the fact that he turned down the witch for sex. Nothing good can come from that woman. I liked that he had enough gumption to turn her down. However, the witch did get a good stinger in there at the end, I mean no woman likes to be turned down. She says "You know nothing, Jon Snow." A certain Ygritte had said that to Jon before. Makes me wonder how the witch knew that by the way.

Other random stuff:

  • Grey Worm got his ass handed to him, but the old King's Guard swordsman went out swinging, taking a ton of people with him. I'm assuming Grey Worm lives here.
  • The littlest prince backed down from the religious cult. That's always a bad decision.
  • Seems Cersei has no problem putting her littlest prince in harm's way if that means Cersei gets to remain in control, although, she is doing a bad job of it.
  • Jamie Lannister got a bit of confidence this week.
  • There seems to be three young lady warriors now. I don't care. I'd rather watch Arya. Plus, I miss The Hound.
  • There was barely any Tyrion and he was underutilized again this week.

Looking forward to next week.

The convenience of the company allows me to et my work done faster, so I can do more of my favorite things, like watch Game of Thrones and review it on my blog.

This week's episode was super interesting (for those of us who didn't cheat and watch ahead). We didn't see any of the Queen of Dragons, but we did see a lot of Sad Sansa and Jon Snow.

The Jon Snow thing was great. I like how the theme of these past few episodes is what these characters will do with power once they have it. How does one lead? I think Jon Snow did a great job. He was lenient with the one guy, Thorne, by giving him some control, letting him save face, but as for his buddy that got all cowardly when the Wildlings attacked, Slynt, Jon ships him off to that remote castle. He refuses, puts up a big stink, and then makes Jon make a decision.

And in my opinion, he makes the right one. He sets an example to everyone, including Thorne, that while Jon might be new at the leadership role, and take in all sides, this does not make him soft. With some mild television hesitation, Jon chops off his head. Also, to note, to Stannis' approval. I think perhaps Jon Snow's brother, Robb Stark could've learned a thing or two from Jon.

As for Sad Sansa, poor Sansa. My goodness, she has had a tough run of it. One wish to be a Queen, and look where it leads her. Now she is to be married off to the son of the man who killed her mother and her brother? Previously she was almost married to the guy who killed her father. This girl really has had a go of it. Plus, two absolute sadists.

However, this will lead to some very, very good television.

On a side note, I don't think that Jorah is really taking Tyrion to Cersei, I think he is taking him to the Queen of Dragons.

Until next time.

My Game of Thrones Thoughts blog thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14

Thanks to 4inkjets coupon SIGLER14 I am able to watch Game of Thrones because I don't have to worry about my inkjet needs. They are all met courtesy of this great company that has an easy to navigate website, every cartridge available, and works to save the environment my refurbishing their cartridges. Less cartridges in the landfills are a good thing.

This weeks Game of Thrones was great! It was titled House of Black and White.

We get another look at Aria this week. She travels a great distance to get to Braavos. She is turned away by an older gentleman at the black and white gate. She sits there all night reiterating her hate list despite not being able to get through the doors. As if she has made her resolve to go it alone, she tosses her coin into the water, and goes on her way.

First of all, no one tosses the coin. Never. Ever. Not going to happen. You may leave your perch on the stairs, but you do not toss the coin.

Young Aria meets with a crew of boys who are less than cordial. She goes to fight them off, only for the older gentleman to remerge and show himself to be Jaqen. Arya goes behind those very doors she couldn't get into before with Jaqen. I'm assuming she will come back out a new person.

Our Dragon Queen had a rough week. She makes some costly decision that turns her free-slave followers against her. Looks like she has to make some even tougher decisions to get back her standing back as their queen and to get back on her path to the iron throne. There was one cool scene where we get to see the big dragon back. It looks like it wants some pets, but then changes it's mind. That thing was bad ass.

Then there was poor Brienne. Looks like that girl is the least liked on the playground. No one wants her help!

Lastly, our boy Jon Snow gets voted into office. For someone who says he doesn't want it, he looks pretty happy when he gets it. That other dude? Not so happy. Looks like it's going to be problematic.
